The army on Saturday successfully test fired the nearly 300-km-range Brahmos supersonic land attack cruise missile in Pokhran.
It was the missile's third test flight. The first was on April 11, 1999 and second on January 17, 2001.
This test fire is the second time in less than a month and followed the sixth and most powerful nuclear test by North Korea to date on September 3.
The indigenously built multi-target missile has a range of 25km and is one of the five missiles under various stages of development by the DRDO.

The indigenously developed naval version of the Prithvi short-range ballistic missile has a strike range of up to 350 km and can carry 500 kg of conventional or nuclear warhead, a Defence Research and Development Organisation official said.

Pakistan on Tuesday test-fired a newly developed short-range surface-to-surface missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, the military said. The Hatf-9 missile, with a range of 60 km, can "carry nuclear warheads of appropriate yield with high accuracy," the military said in a statement. The "multi-tube ballistic missile" system had been developed to add "deterrence value to Pakistan's strategic weapons development programme at shorter ranges," it said.
